Course Description and Learning Objectives

Three Webinar Overview:

It is my belief that treating children and adolescents cannot begin from a primary focus on diagnosis in play therapy. Their tender sensory perceptions, challenging life experiences, physiological implications, together with innate personality traits and cultural values must be considered in developing a mindset of healing and resilience. With the restorative essence of the child’s inner resources, sensory preferences, and play at its center, this series of three (3) play therapy webinars will focus upon the creation and utilization of Storytelling, Artistic, and StoryCraft Metaphors that can be at the heart of numerous multi-sensory play therapy interventions.

All approaches can be used in a variety of settings and with the favored treatment modality; i.e., sand tray, music, art, etc. Each of these three-hour webinars will include case examples to illustrate application, along with interactive exercises.

Description:

In addition to creating and using storytelling metaphors in play therapy, this webinar will provide numerous imaginative and multi-dimensional play therapy approaches for giving external expression to the internal realm of feelings, experiences, and stories. Included with the theory and framework of the Artistic Metaphor will be examples of: Inner Resource Drawings: The Pain Getting Better Book; The Resource Board Game; Pathway to Success Map; and The Magic Puppet Theater. StoryCrafts will include: The Bowl of Light; The Storyteller Puppet; Life-Story Puzzle; and My Cup of Joy.
