Course Description and Learning Objectives

Description:

Participants must have completed the level 1 Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy- Basic course before attending this advanced course.  In this ever-difficult world for children, anxiety and other emotional problems seem to be on the rise. This advanced workshop will do an in-depth training with cognitive-behavioral play therapy and review the step-by-step process used to help facilitate healing through empirically tested techniques. A thorough review of Beck, Ellis, Bandura, and Meichenbaum will be covered. Participants will be creating their own techniques through this workshop. The Cognitive-behavioral techniques in play therapy will be illustrated, as well as experienced. DVDs of the creation and use of the techniques will be supplementing the didactic presentation.​


Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the basics of Rational Emotive Therapy and how it can be applied to play therapy for children
  • Identify how cognitive and behavioral techniques can supplement learning of new skills and enhance self-esteem.
  • Demonstrate some cognitive techniques and how they can be modified to apply to children of all ages.
  • Describe advanced approaches to using cognitive-behavioral therapy for treatment of child and help with school.
  • Explain how to run groups with this approach to help with social skills.
  • Identify the core ingredients to cognitive behavioral play therapy and how to use their powers.
