All of us are dealing with the global effects of Covid. The demands and pressures of everyday life may drain us of our soul’s vitamin supplements. Now, more ever as play therapists we need creative tools that reawaken, reinvigorate, and regenerate a sense of inner strength, hope, and resilience. with the children and families with whom we work.

Utilizing an Ericksonian resiliency-focused mindset, this 3-hr. play therapy webinar will provide participants with six creative, skill-building, and engaging artistic activities designed to help children and teens resolve problems, nurture courage, connect to self-determination, embrace a playful nature, and enhance a sense of mastery in the face of life’s challenges and uncertainties.

As part of the StoryPlay® process of play therapy, the tools provided in this webinar have been successfully implemented with children and teens throughout the world in a variety of settings, cultures, languages, and age groups.


Learning Objectives:

  • Name two fundamental elements of an Ericksonian resiliency-focused mindset in play therapy.
  • Describe three key elements that comprise a StoryPlay® Tool Chest.
  • Utilize an artistic activity that can awaken goals, identify obstacles, and activate inner resources in a play therapy.
  • Identify a creative activity that will motive the expression of gratitude, appreciation, and hope in the face of life challenges during a play therapy session.
  • Design a collage using images to represent determination for building self-confidence and success during the play therapy session.

Founder of StoryPlay® Global, award-winning Play Therapist, author of eight books, and considered an expert in metaphorical interventions, Dr. Joyce Mills is an internationally recognized storyteller, consultant, workshop leader, program development specialist, and keynote speaker to medical, psychological, and educational organizations. With “resiliency” and “creativity” at its heart, Dr. Mills developed StoryPlay®, a new Ericksonian Indirective model of Play Therapy helping children, adults, families, and communities heal from trauma and disaster. In addition to her training programs, Dr. Mills is a Co-Director of the Phoenix Institute of Ericksonian Therapy, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a registered Play Therapy Supervisor.
