Description:

All of us are dealing with the ongoing global effects of Covid. As play therapists, the demands, and pressures we experience often leave our treasured wellspring of creative energy and ideas depleted or drained.

Now, more than ever we need to replenish our wellspring with transformative, innovative, and inspiring approaches that will reinvigorate, and regenerate a sense of inner strength, hope, sensory attunement, and resilience with the children and families with whom we work.

Utilizing the resiliency-focused StoryPlay® process and mindset, this 3-hr. play therapy webinar will provide participants with experiential approaches along with artistic activities designed to help children and teens reduce anxiety, transform fears into resources, activate courage, connect to self-determination, embrace a playful nature, and enhance a sense of inner peace and confidence in the face of life’s challenges and uncertainties.

In addition, to use in private practice, examples will be woven throughout this webinar showing how specific activities have been successfully implemented with children and teens throughout the world in a variety of settings, cultures, languages, and age groups.

Learning Objectives:

  • Name two fundamental elements of a resiliency-focused mindset in play therapy.
  • Describe three key elements that comprise a StoryPlay® Treasure Chest.
  • Utilize a drawing approach that helps teens illuminate goals, identify obstacles, and activate inner resources during a play therapy session.
  • Identify a creative activity that will motivate the expression of gratitude, appreciation, and hope in the face of life challenges during a play therapy session.
  • Design a collage using images to represent determination for building self-confidence and success during the play therapy session
