Description:

Play therapy gives clients amazing opportunities to explore familial and social relationships through play. Clients can initiate the therapeutic powers of play through their work with sand, art, and play-based materials as they examine functional and dysfunctional support systems. Participants will learn how to use these techniques to assess relationships, as well as strengthen support systems and identify new connections. This training will introduce several techniques through demonstrations, and hands-on learning is encouraged! Note: It would be useful to have a few sheets of plain paper, some construction or colored paper, coloring supplies, a glue stick or tape, and a small selection of miniatures available during this training.

• Describe at least 2 play therapy techniques specific to identifying supportive social relationships.
• Identify which therapeutic powers of play are initiated with play therapy techniques designed to assess and explore relationships.
